Volkswagen has recently introduced the 2024 Platinum version for the Tiguan model. The car is offered to Vietnamese consumers with a price of 1.688 billion VND. The new version, with more amenities and a lower price of 311 million VND, will replace the Tiguan batch produced in 2023, which is almost sold out at dealerships.
This is the second time the German car brand has applied the formula of "rebranding - adding features - reducing the selling price." Previously, the large 7-seater SUV Teramont was introduced with a Limited Edition version with a price reduced from 2.499 billion VND to 2.138 billion VND.
Comparing the appearance of the Tiguan, the Platinum version looks more luxurious and sporty than the standard version due to the body-colored body kit (front/rear bumpers and babule trim) and fixed step bars. The windows around the car are now tinted with 3M brand tint film.

A notable feature in the list of amenities of the Platinum version is the 10-speaker 400W Dynaudio system, replacing the standard 8-speaker system. In the international market, Volkswagen offers the Harman Kardon 480W 10-speaker sound system as an optional feature.
The safety aspect is also improved with the addition of a 360-degree camera and two advanced driver assistance features: blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. However, these features still do not fully bridge the gap between the Tiguan and familiar CUV/SUV models in the domestic market such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, or Ford Everest when it comes to ADAS features.
The rest of the list of occupant and surrounding protection features include: electronic stability control, hill descent assist, traction control assist during acceleration, intelligent lane keeping assist, tire pressure monitoring, driver distraction warning, automatic parking assist, front/rear parking sensors, and cruise control with speed limiting feature (Speed Limit).
Another added feature is wireless phone charging. The rest of the Volkswagen Tiguan Platinum remains the same as the predecessor version.
As a mid-life upgrade version introduced for the first time in Vietnam through the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) 2022, this mid-size crossover has been enhanced with some exterior details such as the headlight cluster or bumper to bring a more youthful and dynamic atmosphere.
Among the common competitors from Asian brands or the more polished luxury models, the design of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace may have fewer highlights but is still appealing to the general public.
Some exterior highlights include intelligent LED headlights connected to the decorative strip on the grille. Unique LED taillight graphics, creatively shaped "C" air intakes at the front bumper corners, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The practical and user-friendly interior of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is adorned with many modern technologies such as the 12.3-inch Digital Cockpit Pro digital instrument cluster with various display modes, an 8-inch touch screen supporting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Gesture Control feature, 3-zone automatic climate control panel integrated with touch-operated air filter, Head-Up Display (HUD), 30-color interior ambient lighting, and an electric trunk with a "kick trunk" feature.
All seats are upholstered in black Vienna leather with perforations, with the front seats featuring 3-position memory and ventilation/heating functions.
The 2,787mm wheelbase is more than most ordinary compact crossovers, allowing the German car brand to install a third-row seat on the Tiguan, although the space in this area is still quite limited - equivalent to the Honda CR-V or Mitsubishi Outlander. In addition to the 230-1775-liter luggage compartment, the Tiguan Allspace also has many convenient storage compartments, notably the compartments located on the ceiling of the car.
Under the hood of the Volkswagen Tiguan Platinum version is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a maximum power of 180 horsepower and a peak torque of 320Nm. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with electronic differential lock.
Drivers can adjust between 4 driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and Custom, along with 4 control modes for the 4Motion traction control system.

The introduction of the Tiguan Platinum comes after a series of changes in Volkswagen's approach to the Vietnamese market, such as the introduction of two Chinese-imported models, the large MPV Viloran and the large SUV Teramont X, at more affordable prices, or the addition of features and price reductions for the Teramont line.
This Tiguan adjustment will need time to prove itself as the selling price of the Platinum version is still equivalent to the Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 AMG (1.659 billion VND), and significantly more expensive than the standard D-segment CUV models like the Hyundai Santa Fe (979-1.269 billion VND), Mazda CX-8 (949-1.129 billion VND), Kia Sorento (964-1.499 billion VND), or Ford Everest (1.099-1.545 billion VND).
