Former singer Goo Hara was the one who brought everything to light

Burning Sun - Exposing the secret Kpop chat groups produced by BBC Channel and aired on May 20. In it, reporter Kang Kyung Yoon - the one who uncovered the case - revealed that former singer Goo Hara helped her in the process of investigating the news.

Kang revealed that five years ago, she had a question that she couldn't answer, which was the identity of the "Police Commissioner" in the lewd chat group of Seungri and Jung Joon Young. Goo Hara provided the appropriate answer, helping Kang Kyung Yoon uncover the Burning Sun scandal.

According to Kang, the "Police Commissioner" is senior police officer Yoon Gyu Geum - who was later arrested on charges of bribery and acting as an intermediary for individuals associated with Burning Sun.

Goo Hara also helped singer Choi Jong Hoon (former member of FT.Island) provide information about the scandal. Goo Hara's brother happened to overhear a conversation between Goo Hara and Choi Jong Hoon.

Goo Hara advised the singer named Choi: "Tell reporter Kang Kyung Yoon everything you know. Jong Hoon, I will try to help you. Tell reporter Kang what you know."

According to reporter Kang, Goo Hara had seen three artists using their phones and noticed suspicious signs about the shocking sex chat group in the Korean entertainment industry. The former Kara member told Kang, "I noticed something very strange about them. What you said seems to be all correct."

Kang Kyung Yoon described Goo Hara as a brave and enthusiastic girl. "Every time I spoke with her, no matter what I said, she always firmly said: 'I also want to help you. In fact, I was a victim of sexual revenge behavior.' I remember very clearly what she said."

Goo Hara passed away in 2019 at her private residence. The young South Korean singer was a patient of depression. The pressure in the entertainment industry and psychological issues are considered the reasons that led her to take her own life.

Characters accused in the documentary exposing the dark side of the Korean entertainment industry

The Burning Sun scandal in 2019 caused a stir in the Asian public opinion. From a brawl at the Burning Sun club, the police uncovered a scandal involving rape, hidden camera footage, embezzlement, and pimping, involving famous male stars at that time including Seungri, Choi Jong Hoon, Jung Joon Young. To this day, many artists in this group have returned to work in the Korean entertainment industry.

Seungri - the key figure in the scandal - was once a popular South Korean idol, with a huge fan base worldwide. He debuted as a member of the Big Bang music group, achieving great success with the band and having a successful music career.

In addition to being a member of the popular Big Bang music group, the singer was also a music producer, a multi-sector business investor with a "non-trivial" asset. Seungri was also known for his lavish lifestyle and wide connections in the entertainment industry.

In 2019, Seungri was indicted in January 2020 while serving his military service. In August 2021, the first trial of Seungri with 9 charges including allegations of organizing prostitution, illegal gambling... resulted in a 3-year prison sentence, a fine of 1.15 billion won (over 20 billion VND).

Seungri appealed. He only admitted to 7 charges and denied the two charges related to prostitution, violating foreign exchange laws by engaging in illegal gambling.

In the trial in 2022, the former Big Bang member was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, shorter than the initial trial. The court did not impose additional penalties. Seungri's punishment was considered lenient compared to the charges against the former member of Big Bang.

The investigation, prosecution, and imprisonment in the scandal led Seungri to announce his departure from the Big Bang group, suspend his activities in the entertainment industry, and terminate his contract with the YG entertainment conglomerate.

In February 2023, Seungri completed his sentence. South Korean public opinion strongly reacted. Fans expressed concerns about the possibility of Seungri returning to the entertainment industry. Every move of the singer attracted public attention and faced strong opposition from the public.

In addition to Seungri, singer Jung Joon Young was accused of gang rape and secretly filming, distributing pornographic videos. Choi Jung Hoon was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his involvement in the gang rape case, and is currently on parole.

The ugly truths about Seungri revealed in the shocking documentary

The documentary Burning Sun - Exposing the secret K-pop chat groups detailed the Burning Sun scandal with a clear timeline, such as the conversations between members in the sex chat group created by Jung Joon Young. In it, members discussed gang raping an intoxicated woman.

The documentary described women as toys at alcohol parties, even revealing footage of Seungri, who referred to himself as "Seungsby (Seungri + Gatsby)" dragging an unconscious woman.

In the documentary, a woman also recounted being drugged, sexually assaulted, and begging for mercy.

One of the most chilling revelations was the existence of a secret room, accessible only to high-paying VIPs. In the secret red-tiled bath, women were said to be drugged and subjected to horrifying acts of violence.

In addition to Seungri, this documentary featured many top stars, including members of the group Blackpink. The female singers all revealed unpleasant experiences with Seungri.

In 2018, Seungri participated in the sitcom YG Future Strategy Office. The former Big Bang member played the lead role in the human resources department.

During their encounters and work with Seungri, the members of Blackpink all appeared cautious. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa stated that they did not feel comfortable talking to the male singer.

Not only the Blackpink members, singer Sunmi also bluntly stated in front of the camera that artists in the industry, especially women, warned her to stay away and not associate with Seungri.
