Carelessly changing lanes, a container truck caused a small car to spin out of control and crash into the opposing lane

The situation is said to have occurred on September 16 on the Dong Nai bridge and was captured by a car's dashcam.

In this incident, the container truck changed lanes carelessly, hitting the rear side of the car and pushing it for a distance.

Once again, this collision situation highlights the danger of being complacent and careless, and underestimating the danger of blind spots while participating in traffic.

Due to the size and weight of large trucks and oversized vehicles, the driver's visibility is more limited compared to smaller vehicles. Certain areas at the front of the vehicle and both sides are known as blind spots - areas where the driver cannot observe.

Many vehicle models are equipped with blind spot detection systems, reducing the risk of blind spot collisions by issuing a warning signal if there is an obstacle in the driver's blind spot through mirrors or regular eyesight.

However, even with vehicles equipped with maximum observation support tools, including mirrors, cameras, and sensors, only caution helps drivers avoid accidents.

When turning or changing lanes, drivers must reduce speed and carefully observe the sides of the vehicle, or even turn their heads to quickly glance at the sides, avoiding the risk of collision with smaller vehicles moving alongside.

Meanwhile, smaller vehicles should avoid moving into the blind spots of larger vehicles. Additionally, avoid moving too close or driving parallel to these types of vehicles. If this cannot be avoided, try to ensure that your vehicle is seen in the large vehicle's rearview mirror, so the driver can see it.

When overtaking these types of vehicles, overtake decisively after estimating the space in front of the vehicle being overtaken enough for your vehicle to pass. Absolutely do not overtake when there are intersections, branches, or curves ahead, as that is when visibility is limited.

Most importantly, signal with the horn and headlights to let the large vehicle you intend to overtake know, then wait for the right conditions to overtake.
