Chinese SUVs in Vietnam have been discounted by hundreds of millions of dong for months yet have reached a new low

The Haval H6 HEV is a model that is often promoted in Vietnam. In recent months, the actual selling price of this product at dealerships has been reduced to 840 million VND, a decrease of 146 million VND compared to the listed price. However, recently, the car has a new "bottom."

According to a sales consultant in Hanoi, his dealership is offering an additional discount of 20 million VND for the Haval H6 HEV, bringing the actual selling price down to 820 million VND. In addition, customers buying the car will also receive many valuable accessories such as window tints, floor mats, underbody coatings, etc.

Thus, the actual selling price of the Haval H6 HEV at the dealership is the same as the standard version of a B+ size SUV like the Toyota Corolla Cross Petrol (820 million VND). Meanwhile, this model is positioned in the C-SUV segment and uses a hybrid engine.

Faced with this information, the reaction of users is still relatively indifferent. The main reason is that Haval is a new brand, its recognition is not high, and at the same time, Vietnamese customers still have more attractive options such as the Mazda CX-5 starting from only 749 million VND.

Experts believe that the additional discounts offered by dealerships for the Haval H6 HEV are not only due to sales pressure but also because domestic assembly competitors are enjoying a 50% reduction in registration fees under the government's policy. Imported products like this Chinese model are racing to offer discounts to compete.

The Haval H6 HEV was first introduced in Vietnam in August 2023 with a suggested retail price of 1.096 billion VND. Just 2 months later, this model was discounted by up to 244 million VND at dealerships, bringing it down to 852 million VND.

This price level continued until the end of 2023. In 2024, the distributor proactively adjusted the suggested retail price of the H6 down by 110 million to 986 million VND, but at the dealership, the price of the car continued to be reduced to 840 million VND.

Experts believe that deep price reductions may help products like the Haval H6 attract customer interest. However, when promotions are applied for a long time, this strategy may backfire as customers start to become hesitant, waiting for even deeper discounts.

The Haval H6 HEV uses a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, producing a total of 240 horsepower and 530Nm of torque (Photo: Nguyễn Lâm).

The company does not disclose monthly sales figures for the Haval H6 HEV, but according to a sales consultant, the business situation for this model is relatively slow, not meeting expectations despite frequent deep discounts.

In the near future, Haval Vietnam will introduce the Jolion model to expand its product portfolio. This information has been confirmed by a representative of the company, but the launch of this model has been continually delayed for Vietnamese customers.

Once again, the dealership has stated that the Haval Jolion will be available in October, but so far, there has been no action from the company (Photo: Motortrivia).

Earlier, representatives of the company shared that the Haval Jolion will be distributed in 2 versions, with the expected starting price below 700 million VND. This model is positioned in the B+ size SUV segment, competing with the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-30.

Similar to its "big brother" H6, the Haval Jolion only has a hybrid engine option, consisting of a turbocharged 1.6L petrol engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a maximum total power of 190 horsepower and maximum torque of 375Nm. The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, with front-wheel drive.
