Clearance' Nissan Navara dealer, despite nearly 200 million VND discount, still expensive compared to competitors

In the pickup segment, Nissan Navara is a relatively subdued name, as it has a relatively high price compared to its competitors, and its monthly sales figures are not disclosed. According to sales consultants, the business situation of this model is quite bleak despite frequent large promotions.

In July, to clear the inventory of Navara manufactured in 2023 (VIN 2023) to make room for the new batch, dealers are offering significant discounts on this pickup. The discount varies at different showrooms and depends on the version, but all include a 150% waiver of the registration fee from the manufacturer.

Referred to some locations, the standard EL 2WD version with a price of 699 million VND is discounted around 70-80 million VND; the mid-range VL 4WD version (945 million VND) receives the highest discount, about 150-190 million VND. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Pro 4X variant (970 million VND) is only discounted by 100-120 million VND.

Despite the deep discounts, the actual selling price of Navara VIN 2023 is still not really attractive, except for the standard EL version. The mid-range VL version with the lowest price at dealerships is 755 million VND, still comparable to the equivalent version of its competitor, the Mitsubishi Triton (780 million VND but with a 50% registration fee waiver equivalent to a discount of 23.5 million VND).

The Pro 4X variant of Nissan Navara VIN 2023, after the discount, has a lowest price of 850 million VND, which is 55 million VND cheaper than the highest-end Triton model (905 million VND). However, the VIN 2023 vehicles will depreciate more when resold, which may affect consumers' purchase decisions.

The highlight of Nissan Navara lies in its multi-link suspension system for a smoother ride, while other pickup models use leaf springs. The engine of the car is a 2.3L twin-turbo engine with power in the high range within the segment but not as powerful as the Ford Ranger.

The American brand is still dominating the majority of the market share in this segment. In the first 5 months of 2024, the Ranger recorded cumulative sales of 6,301 units, far exceeding all other products.
