Da Nang city authorities are planning to create a home for this year's Tet dragon symbols by building a coastal park that will be open to the public to enjoy.

The park will be located near the intersection of Vo Van Kiet and Vo Nguyen Giap streets in Son Tra district. The city is currently collecting dragon statues and symbols made the previous year for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Phung Phu Phong, director of the Da Nang Department of Construction, said on Friday that the plan is to build the park on part of a 2.8-hectare plot of land previously planned for a financial center project. main.

"The financial center has not been developed, leaving the area abandoned and unsightly. A symbolic dragon park would create a new tourist destination and revamp the coastal landscape at the same time," he said.

For this year's Tet, the year of the dragon, dragon symbols can be found everywhere in Da Nang, the heart of Central Vietnam, and surrounding areas to welcome the new year.

These include portable dragon statues that can breathe fire and water with light and sound effects at the tail of the city center's famous dragon bridge, as well as a 60-meter-long dragon at the top of the bridge. The display is protected by three other dragon symbols with lighting effects, as well as 100 dragon eggs and baby dragons.

During Tet 2023, cat symbols displayed at various spring flower decoration spots were donated to kindergartens in the city.

This year, placing large, elaborate dragon symbols in schools has been difficult, according to the Department of Construction.
