If the "wave" of electric vehicles exploded in June, the auto market in Vietnam in July will be relatively harmonious with the introduction of some new products, including pure gasoline, pure electric, and hybrid. Among them, there is a name that has been revealed for a long time but has not yet been officially launched.

Wuling Bingo

Recently, the first images of Wuling Bingo in Vietnam have been widely circulated on social media. This Chinese electric car is said to appear in the yard of the TMT Motors factory in Hung Yen and is expected to be launched in July, according to sales consultants.

It is unclear whether Wuling Bingo will be assembled domestically like the Mini EV or imported whole from China (Photo: Ho Sy Quang).

Wuling Bingo has a length, width, and height of 3,950mm, 1,708mm, and 1,580mm, respectively. These dimensions are similar to A-segment cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 or Kia Morning, promising a much more spacious interior than the "younger sibling" Mini EV currently being sold.

Based on the images provided, Wuling Bingo in Vietnam is equipped with LED headlights/taillights and position LED lights on the exterior. The interior features a digital 7-inch instrument cluster connected to a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, the center console with an electronic parking brake integrated with automatic hold function.

In terms of performance, Wuling Bingo in the international market uses only one electric motor, but with different power outputs depending on the version. The first configuration is 30kW (equivalent to about 41 horsepower) and 110Nm, the second is 50kW (68 horsepower) and 150Nm.

The car is equipped with LFP batteries with capacities of 17.3kWh, 31.9kWh, or 37.9kWh depending on the version, with corresponding driving ranges of 203km, 333km, and 410km. The 333km and 410km versions are both equipped with fast charging, allowing 30-80% charge in about 35 minutes.

Some expected conveniences that will be available on the car in Vietnam include: power-adjustable driver's seat, automatic air conditioning, push-button start (Photo: Ho Sy Quang).

According to some sources, the 333km and 410km versions of Wuling Bingo are likely to be distributed in Vietnam, promising to have full equipment similar to the international market version. However, the starting price of this Chinese electric car is unlikely to be below 500 million VND.

A competitor to Wuling Bingo could be the VF 5 Plus. VinFast's pure electric model has a starting price of 468 million VND (excluding the battery) and 548 million VND with the battery, with a maximum travel range of over 300km after each full charge, benefiting from the exclusive charging station system that covers almost nationwide.

Suzuki XL7 Hybrid

According to dealers, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid may be brought to Vietnam at the end of July or early August. The car is imported whole from Indonesia, and the price is expected to increase slightly compared to the gasoline version currently being distributed (599.9 million VND).

The equipment of the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is not much different from the regular version. In Indonesia, the car is equipped with automatic cruise control and lane-keeping assistance features, rearview mirrors with LCD display similar to the Ertiga Hybrid.

The interior of the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid still has a familiar design, the wood-grain trim is made darker than the regular version (Photo: Suzuki).

The biggest difference in the car lies in the powertrain similar to the Ertiga Hybrid model, which includes a 1.5L gasoline engine with a maximum output of 103 horsepower and maximum torque of 138Nm, combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a lithium-ion battery and generator.

In reality, this configuration is considered mild-hybrid, as the generator only lightly assists the acceleration process and provides automatic stop/start capability. The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid does not have a pure electric driving mode (EV Mode) like the parallel or series hybrid models currently on the market.

MG7

Revealed since 2023, but only recently have new MG7 units started to receive deposits from dealers. This model is likely to be launched in Vietnam in July, according to sales consultants. The price of the car is rumored to start at over 700 million VND, similar to C-segment sedans like the Hyundai Elantra (599-799 million VND).

According to previous information, MG7 will be distributed in Vietnam in 2 versions, named STD and LUX. It is unknown whether the car will be imported from which market but is likely from China, as predicted by experts.

Nevertheless, many users are still interested in the MG7, as the car has a relatively sporty design compared to its Japanese and Korean rivals. In China, the MG7 is equipped with LED headlights/taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a 4 exhaust pipe system, and an active rear spoiler that can be opened/closed like sports cars.

Under the hood, the MG7 will be equipped with different engines depending on the version. The STD variant is likely to use a 1.5L turbocharged engine, combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. This configuration produces a maximum power of 183 horsepower and a maximum torque of 300Nm.

Meanwhile, the LUX version may use a 2.0L turbocharged engine with technical specifications of 254 horsepower and 405Nm. The drive on this variant will still be front-wheel drive but will have electronic limited-slip differential and electronically controlled suspension, with a 9-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

Ford Transit 2024

According to information sent to the media, Ford Vietnam will introduce the new generation of the Transit at the beginning of July. This 16-seater minibus will still have a manual or automatic transmission configuration, but it is unclear how many versions there will be, with an expected price range of 850-950 million VND.

The overall design of the Ford Transit 2024 remains familiar, but some details have been refreshed such as the front lights or grille, reminiscent of the Everest or Ranger models (Photo: otosaigon).

Expected features that will be available on the Ford Transit 2024 include: hands-free opening, heated steering wheel, heated seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, remote start, auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The engine of the car has not been revealed. According to dealers, the manual version of the Transit 2024 will use a 2.0L engine, while the automatic version will come with a 2.3L engine; meanwhile, the current version uses a 2.2L turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
