Kidnapping children for the sake of a medical examination: Does the film crew underestimate the audience?

The drama series "Heart Rescue Station" is currently airing on VTV3 and has been attracting viewers with its intense and suspenseful scenes. The plot revolves around the life of the female lead Ngan Ha (Hong Diem) and Nghia (Quang Su) with their complex relationships stemming from their parents.

However, in recent episodes, the series has faced criticism from some viewers for depicting legal and medical issues in a casual and unrealistic manner.

In episode 31, My Dinh (played by Thuy Diem) kidnapped Gon, the son of Nghia and An Nhien, in order to put pressure on them during a trial, which made the audience upset.

Many people found it hard to understand why a woman over 30 would consider kidnapping as a game and show disrespect for the law. Moreover, when criticized by a friend, My Dinh even shouted, "I'd rather be in jail than be asked by my friend: What did you do that for?", showing the character's ignorance and lack of understanding of the law.

Episode 33 of "Heart Rescue Station" also sparked mixed reactions when An Nhien (played by Luong Thu Trang) asked a doctor to fake being pregnant with just a phone call. She even requested the doctor to help her deceive her husband by saying she was carrying a 12-week-old baby girl.

Furthermore, in previous episodes, during the IVF process, Ngan Ha's ex-husband manipulated a whole team of doctors, falsified records to portray her as a woman incapable of conceiving, even failing multiple attempts at artificial insemination.

These scenes were also portrayed in a superficial and careless manner, making viewers perceive the series as illogical and in violation of the law.

"Everyone stay calm, I'm sure the film crew will have a reasonable resolution where the villains will receive their just punishment," "The series is almost over and the female lead hasn't done anything significant, she only receives help from others, while the supporting female lead is so noisy and troublesome," or "Oh, why does the series include so many negative details? Is it to encourage wrongful actions, or does it underestimate the audience too much?" These are some comments left by viewers after watching the series.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri, screenwriter Le Huyen said that in recent years, television dramas have gained popularity due to their captivating nature. Along with that, the series has scripts and dialogues that are close to real life, hence receiving special attention.

Not only in Vietnam but also worldwide, the inclusion of elements like racing, revenge, forging hospital and bank documents, etc., in a series is accepted. These elements are used to vividly portray the characters' personalities in the series.

"The crucial point is that the series has a climax, a resolution, and from these actions, the characters will realize their mistakes and make adjustments to live better. That is the message that the series brings. I think viewers should be patient to see how the villains will face the consequences of their actions. From there, people will learn what is right and wrong," Le Huyen explained.

Agreeing with screenwriter Le Huyen, director Quang Minh said that viewers follow the series out of affection. The audience's reaction to negative details in the series is understandable because they are the most impartial "judges" of the series.

"An Nhien's act of forging pregnancy documents, pretending to miscarry to depict the deceitfulness, cunningness, and cleverness of the character, or Nghia's influence on a doctor to prevent his ex-wife from getting pregnant... all serve to heighten the drama.

After these situations are resolved, these characters will face the bitter consequences of their wrongful actions. I believe that all the situations in the series have a reasonable place in the overall story," the director expressed his opinion.

Media expert Nguyen Ngoc Long, the founder of Trang Den Media, said that films are cultural products, and he believes that no one creates a film to incite illegal actions.

"The censorship by the broadcasting company is very stringent. If a film contains violent images, language, or violates cultural norms, it would have been cut. The fact that the series is aired means it has passed the assessment of many people. The elements in the series cannot be considered as legal violations because they only occur within the framework of a creative work. What should be done is to limit the age of viewers to guide the thinking and actions of young audiences.

I remember in the past, Noo Phuoc Thinh filmed some sensitive scenes in a music video, so afterwards, the song was removed from the top trending list and the monetization feature was turned off. Recently, Ngoc Trinh also had a clip of performing dangerous actions on a big motorbike, and she was fined and prosecuted, detained. For personal clips, music videos that do not undergo censorship, but films have many control mechanisms, so the noise is less," Ngoc Long said.

Directors and screenwriters explained that some situations within the framework of the series are accepted to vividly depict the characters' personalities (Photo: provided by the film crew).

When asked, "Do you think that such situations make viewers turn away from the series?"

Mr. Long said, "If viewers find it unsatisfactory, they will turn away. However, there are also situations where the series is well-done and reasonable, but viewers do not like it, so they still do not support it.

This requires sensitivity from the team, the media people for the series. It is important to respond cleverly and carefully in discussions about the series, if we are right, we must choose words to explain for viewers to understand."
