Lamborghini's CEO Stephan Winkelmann believes that the YOLO (You Only Live Once) mindset thriving after the Covid-19 pandemic has helped the company achieve strong sales figures despite challenging financial conditions.

After years of focusing on the Aventador and Huracan models, Lamborghini has refreshed its product lineup with the introduction of new successor models - Revuelto and Temerario (pictured above), premiered at the Monterey Car Week event last weekend.
The Urus range has also been expanded with the launch of the SE hybrid plug-in version. These new models are more powerful and faster but also more expensive. Nevertheless, Lamborghini is on track to achieve record sales in 2024.
"Since the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen the YOLO psychological phenomenon, despite global crises or political changes, we are still growing strong, and people still want to buy supercars. Our waiting list is very long," Mr. Winkelmann shared with Yahoo! Finance.
For the first half of this year, the company has recorded record high sales figures and is likely to maintain that until the end of the year.
In the first 6 months of the year, Lamborghini delivered 5,558 cars to customers worldwide, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2023. If the situation continues to be positive, the company could end 2024 with sales of over 11,000 cars.
Last year, the company surpassed the 10,000 cars sales milestone for the first time, with 10,112 cars sold.
For the new Temerario successor to the Huracan model, which has been very successful, some customers have expressed dissatisfaction when Lamborghini switched from the naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine of the Huracan to a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine combined with 3 electric motors.
However, Mr. Winkelmann believes that this move is the right direction for Lamborghini, explaining that the power-to-weight ratio is crucial. "On the other hand, you have to reduce emissions. Using batteries not only helps reduce emissions but also improves efficiency, so I see this combination as the right direction for Lamborghini," he said.
