Renowned director Nguyen Huu Phan, known for his famous countryside-themed films such as "Land and People," "Village Ghosts," and "Kinh Village Wind," passed away on May 22 at the age of 77.
In the family, director Nguyen Huu Trong is the one continuing the artistic legacy of NSND Nguyen Huu Phan. He is known for films like "Jail Guard and Prisoners" and "5S Online." Television viewers also remember him from the series "Undercurrent" and "The Heir of the Family Line," which he co-directed with Trinh Le Phong.

Director Nguyen Huu Trong once shared, "My profession is about passing on the legacy from father to son. My father is a director, so from a young age, I was fortunate to interact and meet with previous generations of filmmakers."
Since 7th grade, I followed my father to work on films, participating in the art department. At that time, I went along just out of the love for wandering around. Back then, in any of my father's films, I would have a small role. But through that, the love for cinema seeped into my blood forever."
Recently, director Nguyen Huu Trong also had emotional shares about NSND Nguyen Huu Phan.
Director Nguyen Huu Trong recalled that when he was young, sometimes he would see his father being scolded by his mother, but he would just smile and scratch his head.

"Later in life, rolling into work with his friends, younger colleagues, and father's former students (I have almost never worked on any project with my father), I finally came to understand that my father is a cheerful, innocent, dangerously honest person, and most notably, he was caught up in playing games, ranking among the 'lucky ones' in Vietnam, that's why my mother never scolded him," Nguyen Huu Trong opened up.
He said, many of his father's friends still talk to him about the genuine and innocent nature of his father. Innocent, honest, and not harmful, his father was loved and respected by everyone, wherever he went.
Son of NSND Nguyen Huu Phan recounted that his father often made impromptu trips with colleagues, students, and other artists. These trips explored the length of the country, delving into different cultures...
Even when he was over 70 years old, suffering from various chronic illnesses, director Nguyen Huu Phan refused to sit still, he kept moving around.

"Perhaps, those who have met my father, those who still remember and think of him, no one would not feel happy when chatting with him. His trips contributed to expanding the network of connections based on goodwill and friendliness.
Now, my father has embarked on his own journey. I wish him to continue being the 'friendly old man,' cheerful, genuine, and always surrounded by lovable friends, wherever he is," director Nguyen Huu Trong shared on his personal page.
For many colleagues, actors of the younger generation, director Nguyen Huu Phan is considered a very caring and generous person.
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, director Nguyen Huu Tuan said that he did not have the opportunity to work much with NSND Nguyen Huu Phan but still deeply impressed with him.
"Although we met for a short period, I was impressed by him as a very approachable mentor with the younger generation," he said.
Artist Nguyet Hang also expressed, "He left behind many memories with the generations, film crew. He was cheerful, refined, and also humorously 'tough' in a lovable way."
