Riders of this Honda motorcycle model may be breaking the speed limit

According to the announcement on Honda Vietnam's official website, the Japanese automaker has issued a recall for the CB350 H'ness motorcycle model. This campaign is carried out to address issues with the speedometer display, braking system, and traction control system not functioning correctly.

A total of 580 affected motorcycles were produced between 2021-2024 and were imported fully assembled from India. Recently, the Indian market also recalled this model, along with the CB300F and CB300R models (which are not distributed in Vietnam).

These motorcycles use a speed sensor with a housing manufactured using a dual mold method. During production, this component experienced a flaw that compromised the adhesion between the cast parts, resulting in gaps.

After prolonged use, rainwater can seep through these gaps, causing a short circuit at both ends of the IC feet in the sensor and altering the wheel speed signal output voltage. This can lead to inaccuracies in the speedometer display, potentially causing unintentional speeding violations.

Furthermore, this issue also affects the motorcycle's braking system and traction control, posing a risk to the rider in certain situations.

Owners of the affected motorcycles can visit authorized Honda dealerships and Honda DreamWing large-displacement motorcycle stores to have the parts replaced. The estimated total time for inspection and repair per motorcycle is around 1.1 hours, and the service is completely free of charge.

In late March, Honda Vietnam also initiated a recall campaign for two high-end motorcycle models, the Goldwing and CBR1000RR. A total of 221 motorcycles were affected, with issues related to the fuel pump wings.

Specifically, due to a change in manufacturing methods, the fuel pump wings on the affected motorcycles may become deformed. When this happens, the component may jam, preventing fuel from being delivered to the engine, leading to starting difficulties or stalling.

The Honda Goldwing is priced starting from 1.231 billion VND, equivalent to a mid-size sedan like the Toyota Camry 2.0Q (1.22 billion VND) (Photo: Gia An).
