In the midsize SUV segment, the Isuzu mu-X is not a prominent name, often appearing in the list of slow-selling vehicles each month. With a relatively low suggested retail price compared to its competitors, the Japanese model still struggles to attract customer interest due to inferior equipment.
The Isuzu mu-X often offers promotions at dealerships to boost sales. One dealership in Hanoi is currently offering discounts of over 200 million VND. This is the largest promotion since the beginning of 2024, applicable to all 4 versions. Details are as follows:

Thus, the actual starting price of the Isuzu mu-X at this dealership is equivalent to the mid-range versions of some C-segment crossovers like the Mazda CX-5 (749-979 million VND) or the Ford Territory (799-929 million VND). Meanwhile, the highest version of this model is cheaper than the standard variant of competitors like the Ford Everest (1.099 billion VND).
Experts believe that the deep discount offered by the dealership for the Isuzu mu-X, in addition to driving sales, is also due to local models receiving a 50% reduction in registration fees from the government. Imported products like the Japanese brand's model need corresponding incentives to compete.

The current Isuzu mu-X belongs to the second generation, introduced in Vietnam in 2022. The equipment of this model is not significantly inferior to its competitors, but the design and engine are not its strong points.
All versions of the Isuzu mu-X are equipped with a 1.9L turbocharged diesel engine, producing a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350Nm. The 4WD system is only available on the top version.
Meanwhile, the Ford Everest uses a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine on the top version. The specifications of this variant are 206 horsepower and 500Nm.

From the beginning of 2024 until the end of August, a total of 124 Isuzu mu-X vehicles were sold. In the same period, the Ford Everest leads the midsize SUV segment, with accumulated sales of 6,205 units.
Despite attracting customers, in October, the American brand's model still receives promotions from the distributor. The higher versions (Sport, Titanium, and Titanium+) are discounted by 22 million VND; while the standard variant (Ambiente) priced at 1.099 billion VND is supported with 100% registration fee waiver, equivalent to a discount of around 110 million VND.
