In the context of reduced purchasing power of consumers, the market is facing difficulties due to economic recession, Volkswagen models often need "huge" discounts to stimulate demand. Among them, the T-Cross stands out as a name that is currently hitting a new low at dealerships.

Some showrooms are offering this B-SUV model with discounts of up to 300 million VND for the Luxury version, bringing the actual selling price down from 1.299 billion VND to 999 million VND. The standard Elegance variant is discounted by 220 million VND, from 1.099 billion VND to 879 million VND.

Despite having a discount almost equivalent to a VinFast VF 3 (with a discount of 315 million VND, including a battery), but with the original price comparable to D-segment SUVs such as the Ford Everest (from 1.099 billion VND), the T-Cross after discount is still expensive compared to some C-SUV models such as the Mazda CX-5 (749-979 million VND) or the Hyundai Tucson (769-919 million VND).

Meanwhile, B-SUV models of the same size as the Volkswagen T-Cross such as the Mitsubishi Xforce have a price range of 599-705 million VND, the Hyundai Creta starts from 599 million VND and goes up to 699 million VND. This is not to mention the promotional programs from distributors or dealerships.

The equipment of the Volkswagen T-Cross is not significantly more outstanding than mainstream products. On the Luxury version, the car features LED headlights/front lights, 17-inch alloy wheels; The interior has an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, single-zone automatic air conditioning, wireless charging, and power-adjustable driver's seat.

The interior of the Volkswagen T-Cross is not impressive even though it is priced at nearly 1.3 billion VND. Even on the highest trim, the car still uses traditional mechanical brakes (Photo: Volkswagen).

Meanwhile, the High-end Hyundai Creta is priced at 699 million VND but already features electronic parking brake, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, along with a Bose speaker system.

In addition, mainstream B-SUV models are racing in technology. Products like the Hyundai Creta, Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, or Honda HR-V all have active safety systems, something the Volkswagen T-Cross is still lacking.
