A new user shared on social media about the image of a rare car outside the emission inspection center in Hanoi. The front, rear, and logo on the alloy wheels are carefully concealed, but based on the design of the car body, experts believe this is the 2024 Kia Carnival.

The spotted car has new alloy wheels, similar to the hybrid version that was recently launched in the Indonesian market, but the color scheme may be different. Therefore, it is still unclear whether the Carnival will be supplemented with a hybrid version in this upgrade, as dealers and Thaco remain quite tight-lipped.

It is not clear what seating configuration the Kia Carnival 2024 will have when it comes to Vietnam, as in Indonesia, this MPV has an 11-seater version. Meanwhile, the current model on sale only has 7 or 8-seater versions.

In terms of performance, the regular versions of the Kia Carnival 2024 still use a 2.2L diesel engine as it is only a mid-life facelift. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, this engine produces 199 horsepower and 441Nm.
The hybrid version's powertrain consists of a turbocharged 1.6L petrol engine, combined with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 242 horsepower and 367Nm. According to the manufacturer's announcement, this variant can accelerate from 0-100km/h faster by 1.4 seconds compared to the diesel versions and only consumes 7.4 liters/100km.
The safety features of the car highlight an active safety technology package with features such as active cruise control with Stop & Go function, lane keeping assist, front/side/rear collision avoidance support, auto-dimming headlights switch between high/low beams.
Additionally, the car has a 360-degree camera system and 8 airbags on the hybrid model, while the base models have only 6 airbags.

In Vietnam, the Kia Carnival is a relatively "hot" name as it made it to the top 15 best-selling cars in the entire market in the first half of 2024, with cumulative sales reaching 2,473 units. This success is due to its attractive design, complete equipment, and a variety of versions with prices ranging from 1,169 to 1,759 billion dong.
However, the selling price of the 2024 Carnival may be a balancing act for Thaco, especially if they want to sell the hybrid version as well. In Indonesia, this car has a price range of 1,492-1,795 billion dong for the 3 diesel engine versions, while the hybrid variant is priced at up to 2,157 billion dong.
If the price increases significantly when coming to Vietnam, the 2024 Kia Carnival may lose its advantage to the Volkswagen Viloran (1,989-2,188 billion dong).
