The upcoming upgrade of the 3-row 'Creta' could replace the Stargazer X

Recently, Hyundai has released the first images of the mid-life upgrade version of the Alcazar and started allowing Indian consumers to place a deposit for this product. This is a 3-row seat model sharing the same platform as the second-generation Creta - a familiar B-segment crossover for Vietnamese customers.

Entering the 2024 model year, the exterior of the Alcazar becomes more angular and significantly less cluttered, especially the front of the car.

The highlight on the "face" lies in the LED daytime running lights running across the front of the car with an "H" graphic, similar to the A-CUV Exter. The black chrome grille connected to the LED projector headlights is influenced by the Creta "facelift".

Below is a larger and more rugged-looking faux aluminum skid plate, emphasizing the robust look of the high-riding vehicle.

The body of the car is only slightly adjusted in a few details such as diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and silver-colored step plates. The textured plastic around the wheel arches is now painted black, contributing to a more upscale and sporty look of the Alcazar 2024.

Going to the rear, the distinctive "H" logo is also applied to the full-LED light cluster extending from left to right, replacing the cluster of lights that might remind you of the previous-generation Ford Everest. The tailgate, roof spoiler, and rear bumper with dual exhaust pipes are all new components.

In terms of dimensions, except for the expected slightly longer overall length compared to the previous 4,500mm, other figures such as width 1,790mm, height 1,675mm, and wheelbase length of 2,760mm - 20mm shorter than the Stargazer X - are expected to remain unchanged. Ground clearance is 200mm.

Similar to the current model, almost the entire cabin of the new Creta will be used for the Alcazar 2024. The most notable upgrade is the digital instrument cluster and 8-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen display that seamlessly supports wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

To remain competitive in the segment, this Korean model also comes with a long list of amenities such as dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, front seat ventilation system, panoramic sunroof, 8-speaker Bose system, electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, air purifier system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 64-color ambient lighting, and remote engine start.

Customers can choose between 6 or 7-seat configurations. In the 6-seat version, the second row is equipped with two individual seats and a large center armrest integrated with a Qi wireless charging pad and cup holder. Other "toys" in this area include air conditioning vents, USB Type-C charging ports, manual sunshades, headrests, and a small foldable table on the back of the front seats.

Owning a good headroom, but the third row of seats in this Hyundai is only suitable for people of modest height. Both passengers are served by cup holders and storage bins, USB ports, air conditioning vents, and a manual airflow control knob.

In terms of safety, the 2024 Alcazar will be equipped with the Hyundai SmartSense active safety technology package including a range of features: adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beam headlights and door-to-vehicle warning when opening the door.

The ABS/EBD braking system, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tire pressure sensors, rearview camera, rear sensors, and 6 airbags are still standard equipment on all versions, while front sensors and 360-degree camera with blind spot display support are only available on certain specific versions.

In the billion-population market, Hyundai continues to offer the option of the Smartstream 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine (158 horsepower/253Nm) and the CRDi 1.5L naturally aspirated diesel engine (114 horsepower/250Nm) for the "facelift" Alcazar. Both can be paired with a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), while the automatic transmission will be a 7-speed dual-clutch for the gasoline engine or a 6-speed automatic for the diesel engine.

Besides the Eco (Economic), Normal, and Sport driving modes, this front-wheel-drive model also has 3 traction control modes: Snow, Mud, and Sand.

The new Alcazar will be available in 4 versions: Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature. The official prices will be announced on September 9, and many predictions suggest that the figure may slightly increase from the current range of 1,678-2,128 Rupee (equivalent to 500-634 million VND).

In Vietnam, Hyundai Thanh Cong is currently distributing the 3-row seat models Stargazer and the Stargazer X variant, but this duo has not made a breakthrough in sales. The competitive pricing and decent equipment have not convinced Vietnamese customers, as the Stargazer series seems to be lacking in terms of design appeal.

Meanwhile, the Creta has been well received, so the Hyundai "sibling" Alcazar promises to continue that success if brought to Vietnam. The scenario of bringing the Hyundai Alcazar to our country to replace the Stargazer X is entirely plausible, according to expert opinions.
