Tucson 2024 Revealed to Vietnamese Guests: Design Tweaks, Enhanced Performance

On October 9, TC Motor officially introduced the new Hyundai Tucson. Unlike some previous rumors, the suggested retail prices of this C-SUV have been adjusted, but the most expensive version is still priced below 1 billion VND.

The Standard version remains unchanged, while the Special Gasoline, Special Diesel, and Turbo versions have increased by 20-80 million VND compared to before, but still significantly cheaper than the 845-1,055 million VND price range that this model was positioned at before (before October 2023).

After the upgrade, Hyundai Tucson still maintains a competitive advantage in terms of pricing in the C-SUV segment. Its direct competitor, the Mazda CX-5, has a suggested retail price of 749-979 million VND, which is not significantly different.

The 2024 Hyundai Tucson, being a mid-cycle upgrade, retains its overall design. Some exterior changes are mainly focused on the front of the car, with the grille expanding to the sides, the slim bars forming a thinner grille, giving a sportier look.

The LED daytime running lights are still hidden in the grille but are streamlined in number, now with only 4 "eyes" on each side. The front lighting cluster still uses LED bulbs but has been upgraded to projector type, providing better illumination.

Unlike the exterior, the interior of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, with the highlight being the curved screen cluster, consisting of a digital instrument cluster linked to the entertainment screen, both with a size of 12.3 inches. The steering wheel of the car also has a new design with integrated paddle shifters similar to the new Santa Fe model.

Some notable convenience features on the new Tucson include: wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, 64-color LED interior ambient lighting, 8 Bose speakers, panoramic sunroof, automatic wipers, memory function for the driver's seat, front seats with electric adjustment and heating and cooling, electronic parking brake, etc.

In terms of performance, the 2024 Hyundai Tucson still offers 3 engine options as before, as it is only a mid-cycle upgrade. Firstly, there is a naturally aspirated 2.0L gasoline engine producing 156 horsepower and 192Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Secondly, there is a diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, generating 186 horsepower and 416Nm of torque. Finally, there is a turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine, with variable valve timing to improve power compared to the previous generation, with specs of 180 horsepower and 265Nm.

The safety features of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson are "inherited" from the previous generation, with the highlight being the Hyundai SmartSense technology package.

This system includes advanced features such as front collision warning and avoidance, blind-spot monitoring and avoidance, lane keeping assistance, cross-traffic collision avoidance when reversing/parking, intelligent automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control, safe exit warning, and driver fatigue warning.

In terms of equipment levels, the 2024 Hyundai Tucson does not have many groundbreaking new features. However, in a context where users are becoming more demanding in their experience, an upgrade with some design changes while maintaining a good pricing strategy will create a competitive advantage for the Korean model.

With the new upgrade, the Tucson is expected to improve its sales, especially as the stable supply source returns. Compared to its competitors, this model still has the advantage of offering a diesel engine; this type of engine is popular among Vietnamese customers due to its performance and fuel efficiency.
