This year, Vietnam still has 6 billionaires on the world list, but Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang and Tran Ba Duong lost their assets, while others increased.

Forbes magazine has just announced the list of world billionaires in 2024, in which Vietnam still has 6 representatives, similar to last year.

The six billionaires include Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh, Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong and Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang.

Except for Mr. Quang and Mr. Duong, the remaining billionaires all recorded increased assets compared to last year.

Mr. Vuong currently owns 4.4 billion USD, an increase of 0.1 billion USD compared to last year. This is the 12th year he has appeared on this list.

Ms. Thao has assets of 2.8 billion USD, up from 2.2 billion USD last year. She currently holds the role of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of HDBank, Vice Chairman and CEO of VietJet Air.

Steel billionaire Tran Dinh Long owns 2.6 billion USD, up from 1.8 billion USD last year. He is currently ranked 1,286 in the world.

Mr. Ho Hung Anh appears on this list for the 6th time. His assets this year are 1.7 billion USD.

Mr. Tran Ba Duong has been included in the list of billionaires since 2018, currently has 1.2 billion USD, down 0.3 billion USD compared to last year. The Truong Hai Auto Company (Thaco) he founded initially only sold cars, then gradually assembled them for foreign brands, such as Kia, Mazda and Peugeot and produced Vietnamese brand buses and trucks.

Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang appears on the list for the 4th consecutive year. His assets are currently 1.2 billion USD.

To be on the list, the method chosen by Forbes is to evaluate the size of an individual's assets based on stock prices and exchange rates as of March 10.

This year, the world has a record of 2,781 billionaires, 141 more than last year. Their assets are also the highest ever, with 14,200 billion USD, thanks to the flourishing global stock market, despite inflation and geopolitical fluctuations.

The richest person on the planet is currently Chairman and CEO of LVMH - Bernard Arnault with 233 billion USD. Followed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk with 195 billion USD, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (194 billion USD) and Meta Platforms boss Mark Zuckerberg (177 billion USD).
