The new VF 5 Plus models with steel wheels have started arriving at VinFast dealerships. The Vietnamese automotive brand has also updated new options for this subcompact SUV on its website.

VinFast still calls this the VF 5 Plus because the basic technical specifications of the new version are not much different from the previous version. The most notable change is that the car now uses 16-inch steel wheels, sold alongside the familiar 17-inch alloy wheels.
On the car at the dealership, these steel wheels are painted black, with silver trim accents on the outside to enhance aesthetics. The corresponding change will be the 195/60 R16 tires from the Sailun brand. For the VF 5 Plus with 17-inch wheels, the tires will be 205/55 R17 from Goodyear.
Another distinguishing feature is that the new VF 5 Plus will have the window trim and B-pillar in the same color as the body of the car. These details were previously made in matte black.
On the energy label of the new VF 5 Plus, the car is labeled as VF 5S, with energy consumption of 119Wh/km. For the previous version, the car was labeled as VF 5 Plus, with energy consumption of 115Wh/km.
On the VinFast homepage, the company does not mention any other differences between these two versions of the VF 5 Plus, except for the price.
Specifically, the version with 16-inch steel wheels will be priced at 468 million VND without the battery and 540 million VND with the battery. These figures are 8 million VND cheaper than the VF 5 Plus version with 17-inch wheels.
The VF 5 Plus is equipped with a 134 horsepower engine and 135Nm maximum torque. The car's battery has an available capacity of 37.23kWh, providing a range of 326.4km per charge (according to NEDC standards). The VF 5 Plus supports fast charging from 10% to 70% in 30 minutes.
Customers renting the battery can choose a subscription package starting from 1.2 million VND per month. The VF 5 Plus comes with a 7-year or 160,000km warranty, with the high-voltage battery purchased with the car covered by an 8-year warranty with no mileage limit.
Insider sources revealed that VinFast has sold over 15,000 units of the VF 5 Plus in the first 7 months of 2024. This result has made the Vietnamese brand's A-SUV model the best-selling car in the country. The chances of the VF 5 Plus retaining this position until the end of 2024 are considered feasible as the product's appeal remains strong, combined with VinFast's aggressive promotional efforts.
