Since last month, a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 480 owner in China has attracted attention by posting images of the luxury SUV with its roof covered in a three-color tarp commonly used in construction. His actions have sparked heated debates on social media.

The owner stated that on July 1st, he spent 2.15 million yuan (about 7.55 billion VND) to purchase this Mercedes-Maybach at a Mercedes-Benz 4S dealership in Zhejiang, but only 2 days after receiving the vehicle, he noticed abnormal noise inside the car and water seepage in the A-pillar.

He took the car for repairs on July 11th, but the 4S store removed several parts to inspect but still couldn't find the cause of the water leakage, which displeased the owner. The owner said he wanted to exchange for a new car (with additional payment), but was disappointed as he estimated he would have to pay nearly 800,000 yuan (2.8 billion VND).

The owner clearly couldn't accept such a high depreciation, so he decided to attract more attention to express his dissatisfaction. He covered the roof of the car with a three-color tarp and shared his story on social media, hoping to attract more attention and support from everyone, putting pressure on Mercedes to resolve the issue more satisfactorily.

A representative of Mercedes-Benz has also commented on the matter, stating that the water leakage issue of the Maybach is being addressed, and the company's staff have been actively engaging with the owner. Detailed information will be updated through official channels.

Mercedes stated that in order to accurately determine the location of the water leakage, the dealership needs to remove some parts, inspect the adhesive between the front windshield and the sliding sunroof, but the owner did not agree to the removal, causing a deadlock in the situation.

Regarding whether the water leakage issue falls within the scope of Mercedes-Benz's three-time warranty service or not, the customer care department stated that it needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The owner's personal account is named "Owner with water leakage." Since he started taking action to defend his rights, attention to this account has surged. According to statistics from a third-party data platform, within 7 days, the account has gained an additional 180,000 followers, and the average likes for the videos he posted have exceeded 200,000.

To increase attention, he opened a window showing products, displaying only two product links: the three-color tarp and tape. These items clearly encourage people to do the same.

As a result, many other Mercedes owners in China have also started following suit, covering their car roofs with the three-color tarp to express their dissatisfaction with quality issues.
