Chinese MPV hits new low at dealership, offering direct discount of 140 million VND

Similar to other Chinese products on the market, Haima 7X and 7X-E have faced some barriers since they were introduced to Vietnam at the end of 2023. Unlike their "compatriots", this duo is quite "bland" when competing in the mid-size MPV segment, and at the same time, the listed prices are not really attractive.

To attract the interest of customers, Haima 7X and 7X-E are often offered with discounts of up to hundreds of million Vietnamese dong. However, recently, the 7X model has a new "lowest point" at the dealership.

Some sales consultants in Hanoi are offering customers to buy the Haima 7X with a cash discount of 100 million dong and a 50% discount on registration fee (equivalent to 40 million dong). Therefore, the car is reduced by a total of 140 million dong from 865 million dong to 725 million dong.

VersionListed PriceDiscounted PriceAmount Discounted

7X-E Premium1,230,000,0001,100,000,000130,000,000

Promotion program for the 2 Chinese MPV models at the dealership only changes with the 7X, the 7X-E still maintains the same discount level as before (Unit: Dong).

Therefore, the new discounted price of the Haima 7X is much lower than its competitors such as the Toyota Innova Cross (810-990 million dong) and Hyundai Custin (820-974 million dong). Even this price is comparable to a small mid-size 7-seater MPV like the Kia Carens (highest price of 779 million dong).

However, the customer response is still relatively indifferent to this information. The reason is that a majority of customers still have concerns about the quality of products from China, due to negative experiences in the past.

As for the Haima 7X-E, being an electric vehicle, the actual selling price of this model is still not cheap even when reduced by 130 million dong. With this amount, customers can buy a standard version of a popular mid-size 7-seater SUV like the Ford Everest (1.099 billion dong).

In addition to the high selling price and brand factor, this pure electric MPV is also facing barriers regarding charging stations. Currently, there are third-party units like EV One or Evercharge... developing public charging station systems, but the coverage is not extensive and the charging costs are not cheap.

With a price tag of up to 1 billion dong, the interior of the Haima 7X-E is quite modern with many convenient features (Photo: Nguyen Quy An).

Even when the Haima 7X-E can travel up to 520 km after each full charge and supports fast charging of 30-80% in 27 minutes, customers are still quite hesitant to approach this model.

Many other electric vehicle models on the market have better policies. For example, VinFast offers free charging for 1-2 years depending on the product, at their exclusive charging station system that covers almost nationwide; some BYD dealers attract customers by installing their own charging stations and offering free charging until the end of 2024.
