Police escorted the Chairman of Tan Hoang Minh Group to court

The police force brought 15 defendants of the Tan Hoang Minh case to court, among them were Group Chairman Do Anh Dung and his son Do Hoang Viet.

On the morning of March 19, the Hanoi People's Court opened a first instance trial of the "big case" that occurred at Tan Hoang Minh Hotel Service Trading Company Limited (referred to as Tan Hoang Minh Group).

15 defendants were prosecuted for fraudulent appropriation of property, including Mr. By Anh Dung, Chairman and General Director of Tan Hoang Minh Group; Do Hoang Viet, Deputy General Director of Tan Hoang Minh Group, son of Mr. Dung.

To date, Chairman of Tan Hoang Minh Group and his accomplices have paid back more than 8,600 billion VND, enough to overcome all consequences of the case.

Early on, security around the Hanoi People's Court headquarters area was tightened. A large number of security forces and judicial support police were mobilized to ensure order.

Because the case had up to 6,630 investors identified as victims, the court built a large outdoor theater, with a capacity of about 500 seats. A large screen with a sound system is installed, transmitting data from the trial hall to the outside, to serve those participating in the proceedings.

At around 6:30 a.m., a number of investors were present at the Hanoi People's Court headquarters to complete procedures to attend the trial. It is known that among the 6,630 victims, many have applied for trial in absentia.

At about 7:30 a.m., the defendants were escorted to court one by one and quickly moved into the trial hall. According to the court's arrangement, reporters sit in a private room, monitor developments and report news through a television screen.

According to the allegation, in the period 2021 - 2022, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, Tan Hoang Minh Group encountered many financial difficulties, with a very large credit balance. Faced with a difficult "problem", defendant Do Anh Dung directed his subordinates to use three companies: Viet Star, Soleil and Winter Palace to create fraudulent documents as a plan to issue individual bonds.

Using many tricks, the defendant group issued 9 bond packages with a total value of 10,030 billion VND, then continued to legalize the documents, "running the cash flow" to buy and sell fraudulently, helping Tan Hoang Minh Group become primary bondholders. Finally, the group sold bonds to investors, earning a total amount of nearly 14,000 billion VND.

Having the money, defendant Dung directed it to be used incorrectly for the purpose and plan of bond issuance; which uses more than 5,100 billion VND from later investors to pay to the first due investor. Minus related costs, the prosecution accused Mr. Dung and his accomplices of appropriating more than 8,600 billion VND from 6,630 investors.

During the process of resolving the case, the defendants, the defendant's family, Tan Hoang Minh Group and related organizations paid a total amount of more than 8,600 billion VND to the investigation agency's custody account; Ensure all consequences of the case are overcome and refund to the victims.

The trial of Tan Hoang Minh Group Chairman Do Anh Dung and his accomplices is expected to last 20 days. The jury consists of 5 members, chaired by judge Nguyen Xuan Van. 5 prosecutors were assigned to represent the Hanoi People's Procuracy to exercise prosecutorial power in court. There are nearly 30 lawyers participating in defending the defendants.
